Products I’ve Used Up • Hair & Body
Hey everyone, I’m back with another empties post! I’ve gone through so many products in the last 6 months that I’ve decided to break it up into 3 parts. You can catch part 1 (my makeup empties) here.
I think everyone can agree with me that finishing a product to it’s last drop is super satisfying, especially in a time where the YouTube is filled with haul videos, Snapchat has been taken over with unboxing PR packages, and there’s plenty of sponsored Instagram posts trying to get you to buy products. People are just buying, buying, buying, but is anyone really using up these products? I love these “Products I’ve Used Up” posts because you get a solid review of someone’s experience with a product from start to finish. Enough chit chat, let’s move along to talking about my trash, yeah?
The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel – I LOVED THIS! Honestly, I think The Body Shop (TBS) slays when it comes to their Pink Grapefruit line. It literally smells like a grapefruit– tart, citrusy, and not at all sweet. This shower gel worked like any other shower gel I’ve used in the past as it lathers up nicely and gets the job done. I got this huge bottle during a sale and it lasted me FOREVER. Unfortunately, the TBS location in my city closed, but I would definitely repurchase it if I can catch it during another sale online.
The Body Shop Body Butter Duo – I scored this at Marshall’s for $5 when regularly it’s $20! This duo consisted of their regular body butter in one compartment and a lotion in the other. Both moisturizers were nice and worked well, but I prefer using the body butter. I think if TBS is going to sell this half-and-half product for the same price as their regular body butter, I’d spend my money on the full container of the body butter, since you’d get more “moisturizing payoff.” However, for $5, I can’t really complain. If I spot something like this again at Marshall’s, it’s definitely going home with me.
L’oreal OleoTherapy Deep Recovery Mask – If you have bleached hair, you’re going to love this oil-infused hair mask! Back when I ombre’d my hair, oftentimes, my hair would literally feel like the end of a broom. I thought, What better way to bring my hair back to life than to douse it with oils? I bought this mask, gave it a go, and my hair was brought back to life in one fell swoop. My hair was softer and smoother than it had been even before I ombre’d my hair! The fact that a little bit of this product goes a long way and that it’s readily available at most drugstores makes me like it even more. I’m currently working my way through other hair products, so I haven’t repurchased this, but I definitely would in the future.
NuMe Classic Hair Straightener – My hair is pretty pin straight, so I don’t use hair straighteners in the traditional way. Instead, I enjoyed using this to curl my hair instead of using an actual curling iron! Using this flat iron gave me soft waves for that tousled and effortless hairstyle that I rock day to day. Unfortunately, this straightener suffered a bad drop from the bathroom counter and one of the plates stopped heating up. It lasted me a good 4 years though!
Not Your Mother’s Double Take Dry Finish Texture Spray – Okay, seriously, this is my ride or die. My holy grail. The cream of the crop. Whatever you want to call it, that’s what this texture spray is to me. Texture sprays are an essential in my hair routine and I’ve tried out quite a few brands. Before this, I was using the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray religiously, but it killed me to dish out $46 every time I ran out. Enter, the NYM Dry Finish Texture Spray. I tried this out on a whim and I’ve been loving it ever since! Compared to the Oribe spray, the scent isn’t quite as nice and it leaves your hair feeling a bit heavy, but it does a great job at providing volume and grit to achieve the hairstyle you want. Even though there are a few downsides, I’d choose this spray over Oribe any day.
Wella Dry Me Ei Mi Dry Shampoo – I am a devoted drugstore dry shampoo user, so my experience with high-end dry shampoos is pretty slim. My hairstylist kindly gifted me this travel sized Wella dry shampoo at one of my hair appointments. I really liked how light this product felt in my hair! With most drugstore dry shampoos, it tends to leave my hair feeling weighed down with gunk, but that’s kind of the price I pay (or don’t pay?) when it comes to drugstore products. Overall, I enjoyed this product while it lasted, but I don’t see myself purchasing it in the future. I’m pretty satisfied with what I’m getting at the drugstore, even if it isn’t the best of the best.
That’s a wrap on my empties! What products have you finished lately? Let me know in the comments whether you’d recommend or repurchase any products that you’ve recently used up. Thanks for taking the time to read today’s post! See you in my next one!
